Heinrich Schmid – SAP business Partner Introduction

SAP BUSINESS PARTNER INTRODUCTION

A preliminary project for SAP S/4HANA migration with services from SPIRIT/21 and conarum

As part of a comprehensive business transformation, the Heinrich Schmid Group, a specialist trades and painting company operating throughout Europe, is facing the challenge of migrating from SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) to SAP S/4HANA.

The initial situation

In preparation for this important step, Heinrich Schmid successfully implemented the Business Partner as a new master data object in the SAP ECC system. The consolidated data object of the Business Partner has numerous advantages: It enables companies to centrally manage and integrate all general data of their business partners (customer, supplier, etc.). It facilitates master data maintenance in SAP S/4HANA and increases data quality. In order to benefit from these advantages, however, some technical and organizational changes are necessary.

The implementation

In order to minimize future complexity during the go-live of SAP S/4HANA, CVI synchronization was activated in SAP ECC as a crucial preliminary step. With “Customer Vendor Integration” (CVI), customer and vendor data is consolidated in a business partner master record.

The following tasks were successfully completed as part of this measure:

  • Synchronization of number ranges
  • Migration of data
  • Defining relationships
  • Definition of the authorization concept
  • Testing of programs

The result

Thanks to the proactive approach, Heinrich Schmid is well prepared to reduce the conversion downtime in the upcoming SAP S/4HANA migration. A key advantage is that the previous steps are no longer in the critical path of the conversion, which takes the pressure off the entire migration project.

With the successful completion of this preparatory work, Heinrich Schmid shows how efficient preparation and strategic planning can pave the way for a smooth SAP S/4HANA migration.

“Thanks to the support of SPIRIT/21 and conarum, we are well positioned for the migration to S/4HANA and are looking forward to the next steps together.”
